FAQ

FAQ

I have two left feet; can you help me?

Even though we are not orthopedic surgeons we believe we can help you! Argentine Tango is a walking dance and as long as you have no issues with walking, dancing Argentine Tango is relatively simple. It is just learning to walk with another person.

I have no partner, can I still attend the classes?

You do not need a partner to attend TengoTango classes. We regularly change partners during the classes to ensure you learn to dance and not learn to dance with just one person. As much as possible, we work hard to balance the classes as well.

I danced ballroom tango can I join your classes from a higher level?

The short answer is, unfortunately No! From our point of view the only thing Argentine Tango and Ballroom Tango have in common is the name Tango. The dances are very different (eg. like comparing Jive and Rumba!). Your previous dance experience will certainly help but in some instances it can be hindrance as well. Treat Argentine Tango as a completely different dance and you should improve with relative ease!

I've been learning Argentine Tango elsewhere and I want to join your X level class, is that OK?

Once we confirm your level there is no problems in joining the appropriate level TengoTango classes whether you danced with us before. We choose not to name our classes with artificially inflated level description. At TengoTango level descriptions are as follows:

TT Fundamentals = Beginner to Intermediate at some other schools

TT Continuing = Intermediate at some other schools

TT Intermediate = Advanced at some other schools

Come along to one of our practicas prior to your first class and either we'll dance with you or observe you to ensure you enrol in the level that will benefit you the most.
